Steadfast Convention 2009

Yes indeed, the Steadfast board member who said “there was a buzz about the place” (Insurance News Bulletin 15/3/09) during the 11th Steadfast Convention on Queensland’s Gold Coast got it right.

This was the 4th that BARK attended as a sponsor/exhibitor and there’s no doubt about it, this one was an excellent convention and our most successful yet based on the number and quality of the enquiries we had. You get to wondering why this is so, especially in view of the continued rumblings of the Global Economic Meltdown and the efforts of our wonderful media industry at making sure we don’t forget it.

For what its worth, this is what we think are some of the reasons for the glimmer of confidence:

1. Among many brokers, the plan for a more aggressive marketing of their firm’s corporate identity and its services seems to be on the agenda.

2. No longer content with primarily providing general brokerage in their local area or sphere of influence, many brokers are developing specialty schemes in collaboration with underwriters and agencies to find that pot of gold niche market for national consumption. The holy grail are the products that can be promoted cheaply and efficiently to other brokers as well as direct customers via email marketing, online quotations and the strategic placement of ads in niche market publications.

The upshot is there are lots of brokers out there going for it. If you are one of them, go for it and go hard – trailblazers with the vision are the ones who end up owning the category.
